Just the Architects

My solo band project. Over the years I've performed this project with several musicians but I've always have been the sole writer and producer for the recordings.

Just the Architects - Plant Kitchen EP

Held onto some of these tracks for a while! Indie hypnagogic jangle whatever tunes. Melancholic and moody vocals with delay psych guitars or distorted melodies. Bass guitar seems to do whatever it wants the whole EP. Drums are chill and laid back, typically just serving the song. Themes range from carefree attitudes and relationships. EP features remix of “Bee-Haw” from L a z u l i _ y e l l o w.

The Flood [single]

Written in 2021, this single is highly influenced by the band Real Estate and their album “Days.” After seeing the 10 year anniversary show for that album back in Nov 2021 I was inspired to write this. The song is about how I can see us as a society being able to watch the apocalypse from our phones. That idea to me is just so dystopian yet so close I had to write this. Simple and fun song with some catchy sing-along choruses.

Off Shoulder [single]

Leaning more into more energetic tunes with less filler. Diving right into the chorus in the first seconds of the song. Special thanks to Zach Jaworski from Twin Beds & Rip Fruit Records for performing, engineering and recording some awesome drum tracks. Also building the lore of JTA in some small ways with this new song. In the bridge of there's a nod to Bleached Bison where I use this 'signature' sound by warping / processing myself whistle. The lyrics "Sky, Sun, Reflect, Sea" will be a common theme throughout the collective.

Company You Keep [single]

Using new techniques and approaches to write this new wave of tunes from JTA. Aiming for that late 2000s neo-psychedelia indie vibe. Stoney beach rock for the suburbs. Using big reverbs, delays and layering I was able to achieve that washed out sound with some clarity left in. Still bouncing around different styles but expect more full band styled songs from JTA this year.

Camera Demos (Live ‘16)

Audio found off of an old video of a gig back in 2016. Played along side the amazing drummer Chris Kerney, which really made the set pop. I played with the same guitar setup I did for Larry Nodder at the time. Not my best performance but I saw some value in these recordings so here they are! New tunes from this project coming soon!

NO GUN [single]

A quick collaboration between myself as JTA & Cosette Gobat. I created the drum/percussion tracks as well as guitar parts and other small nuances. Including the small verse/pre-chorus vocal part. Cosette harmonized that verse as well as wrote the funky bass guitar part and other nuances to complete the song. As well as ending the song with her incredible vocal layering. More collaborations later this year!

Smooth Nights [single]

In this nicely wrapped up single you’ll find program & glitch drums. As well as heavy vocal effects and layering. Also featuring vocalist Paul O’Neill during the outro. Smooth Nights is a good step into the chill-wave and lofi-pop style, and even deeper into Neo-Psychedelia vibe. (I made this for you).

Clide EP

This new EP features a wider & harder hitting sound the previous JTA releases. With the use of random digital and real percussion, breathy synths, and other new dynamics & progressions to the JTA style. Special thanks to Jeff Wasch (Larry Nodder) for bass tracks on Born to Live & Cuttin' Shade.
